Uni-compartmental knee replacement is indicated in suitable individuals who have arthritis in one compartment of the knee causing pain, dysfunction and disruption of desired activities. This can be either the medial(inner) side, the lateral(outer) side or rarely just the patello-femoral joint(the knee cap joint).

The aim is to relieve pain and increase function.
